The 6th Annual IglooFest comes to Montréal in 2012. Jacques-Cartier Quay in the Old-Port of Montreal hosts IglooFest, January 12th through the 28th. The outdoor music festival celebrates the art of electronic music along with amazing audio-visual performances and a quirky one-piece ski suit competition. Hop on the metro to Champs-de-Mars or Place-d’Armes stations for convenient access to IglooFest.

Winter brings the unique 2012 Snow Pentathlon to Québec City. Compete or join this winter pentathlon from January 28th to February 6th. The hub of activity takes place on the historic Plains of Abraham Park in downtown Québec City, including a skating rink built for the event overlooking the St Lawrence River. Events include the 2nd Annual Snow Pentathlon Snowshoe Challenge featuring a 10Km snowshoe race starting near the Chateau Frontenac.
The Snow Pentathlon occurs during the award-winning Québec Winter Carnival. Called the World's Snow Capital, Québec City has hosted one of the premier winter carnivals since 1894. Join Bonhomme, the King of Québec City’s Winter Carnival, with his red hat and arrow sash, January 27th through February 12th. Don’t miss the magic of the night parades with the First Night Parade February 4th and the Second Night Parade February 11th. Québec Winter Carnival is a must see and experience event!
Gatineau, the heart of Quebec’s Outaouais region is just east of Canada’s capitol city Ottawa. The Buckingham suburb of Gatineau is the start of the 2012 Canadian Ski Marathon February 11th and 12th. CSM is North America’s longest and oldest Nordic Ski event. With no winners or losers, CSM is not a race but an adventure open to all.
Gatineau also hosts Gatineau Loppet, Canada’s largest cross-country ski event. The 2012 race is the 34th edition of Gatineau Loppet running February 17th through the 19th. Enjoy a full weekend of cross-country skiing events, the Ski Fair and Aprés-ski Bistro. It’s the season to enjoy the beauty of winter sports in Quebéc.
