Quebec City (Ville de Québec) is the capital of the Canadian province of Quebec. It is the largest city in eastern Quebec. Quebec's historic Old Town (Vieux-Québec) is the only North American fortified city north of Mexico whose walls still exist. Quebec City was founded by Samuel de Champlain on 3 July 1608 at the site of a First Nations settlement called Stadacona. Today, the city of Quebec features an Old Town bristling with historic ramparts, churches, narrow lanes and former battlefields, and revitalized districts with enticing museums, cafes, bars, and restaurants.
