Hull is part of the regional municipality of Gatineau, Quebec and is located on the west bank of the Gatineau River and on the north shore of the Ottawa River, directly opposite Ottawa. The town was originally called Wrightstown, and was renamed Hull in 1875, for the township in England. Canada Science and Technology Museum
Canada Science and Technology Museum, 2.6 km (1.2 mi.) s. of the Queensway at 1867 St. Laurent Blvd., is devoted to the history, principles and applications of science and technology. The historical displays include steam locomotives, domestic appliances, antique automobiles and communications and space equipment. Canadian Museum of Nature
Canadian Museum of Nature, 240 McLeod St. at Metcalfe St. in the Victoria Museum Memorial Building, depicts a journey through nature from the vanished world of dinosaurs to the habitats of contemporary birds, mammals and plants. Displays include hands-on exhibits, live animals and audiovisual presentations. Note: An expansion project has begun that is expected to last until 2009. Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica
Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica, 385 Sussex Dr., was built in 1839 and not completed until 1885. Restored to its original glory, highlights include its painted and carved neo-Gothic interior, stained-glass windows, a gilded statue of the Madonna and child, intricate wall paneling, faux marble pillars and hundreds of statues.
